History of Hardee's
1960s
Wilber Hardee, opens his first Hardee's® restaurant in Greenville, North Carolina, on September 3, 1960. The one-of-a-kind menu included 15-cent hamburgers, 10-cent fries, and 20-cent milkshakes. By the end of the 60s, there were more than 200 Hardee's locations.
1970s
Hardee's continues to grow, expanding its footprint and it's menu, including the addition of it's famous, fresh Made From Scratch™ Biscuits and Roast Beef Sandwich, which continue to be guest favorites today.
1980s
In the 80s, Hardee's opens its 2,000th location, and continues its biscuit fame with the introduction of the Cinnamon 'N' Raisin™ biscuit, which still remains a staple at Hardee's everywhere.
1990s
CKE Restaurants acquires Hardee's in 1997, creating a chain of 3,828 restaurants in 40 states and 10 foreign countries.
2000s
Hardee's debuts its signature line of Thickburgers®--Delicious burgers made with 100% Black Angus beef patties, and introduces the iconic Monster Thickburger.
2010s
Today, Hardee's is proud to still serve the delicious, quality food that made the restaurant a favorite for guests throughout the Midwest and Southeast, while delighting fans with new innovations like Froot Loops® Mini Donuts.
